torchiere or floor lamp with shade?
Filed Under Floor Lamps | 1 Comment
waridi asked:
I want to get some lamps for my living room and bedroom.I’d like good lighting in the rooms since there are no ceiling lights. Which should I go with-a torchiere with a frosted shade(plastic) that lets some light through or a floor lamp with a lampshade? And what kind of bulb is best, a ‘bright white’ energy saving or ‘daylight’ type of bulb. I am referring to the ones sold by home depot. I generally don’t like soft white light since it has that yellow hue. There is also a good likelihood that I will read in these rooms from time to time. Please advise.

The One and Only One asked:
What is the minimum temperature for wood to ignite and will a screw-in compact fluorescent lamp less than 50 watts reach that temperature?
The reason I’m asking is because I mounting 2 15 watts CFL’s to a wooden hood I made myself with 1/4″ plywood and I’m scared it might catch fire.
I’m making something like this but with wood http://homeharvest.com/homeharvest2000pics/HFCompactFixture350.jpg

Recessed Lighting Calculation?

livinginspired asked:
I have small ground level showroom and I would like to install the I-hats or recessed lighting. I am not sure how to calculate the amount of lights I need. The entire area is 78ft x24ft and the ceiling is about 10-12ft high. We currently have the wiring from the old classroom style fluorescents and would like to change to a recessed fluorescent.

How do I know how to space them? How many I need?
Thank you!!

Well,i feel i did’t explain the question properly, for the sake of simplicity, just assume there is a 100w flouroscent lamp..Not the one which produces light equavalent to 100 W incandescent bulb..
Okay now,we have a 100 w CFL and 100W Incandescent bulb, would they contribute equally to electricity bill?

I have 5 lights in my front yard that are connected to underground wiring. Several are broken and I need to replace them. The system is old, but I assume there’s not a better alternative. Is replacement easy? Any suggested products? Thanks.
My current system is hooked up to a timer in my garage. It’s very convenient. Seems like solar lights would be a step down.

I have two seperate rectangles cut into my ceiling that house four four foot florescent lights each. I dont like the noise they make and would like and alternative to the florescents. I am trying to find lights that can utilize the rectangles that are already cut out. Any ideas?

Can I switch my bearded dragons heat lamp to the other side of the tank?

Baby #1 Due in March asked:
For those of you who don’t know bearded dragons need a basking(heated)side and a cooling side. My boyfriend wants to move their tank around(like move their log, their hammock, their rock etc.) around just for a change and he also wants to move their heat lamp from one side to the other because he plans on putting their basking branch on the other side. I just want to know if this is ok and what precautions we should take in doing this. I don’t want to stress my babies out at all if possible. Also, my boyfriend is big on change so he might want to change their tank around every so often, how often is too often? Thanks in advance!

My dragons are babies, babies can be housed together. They are only about 2 months old.
