The lcd on a laptop has gone totally black. With a flashlight pointed to the screen I can see that WINXP starts up and is working perfectly, so i’m asuming the black screen has something to do with the ccfl or perhaps the inverter. Does anyone have an estimate on how much it would cost to fix the display problem or if this has nothing to do with the ccfl but something else?

My lava lamp has been on for a few months, and even though it is turned on and the light is on, and its hot, the goop wont move. I tried shaking it up and setting it, but it just forms at the bottom and does not move anymore. Any ideas?

I have 27″ room (from the point on the ceiling where I will hang the light to the top of the doorway.) Pendant light sizes range from 10″ up to over 20″. I dont want it to look too small or too big for the doorway. Most of the ones I like are around 15″. Will that look too big?

I replaced a ceiling fan/light, which was attached to a wall-mounted dimmer switch, with a pendant light. The dimmer has an on/off switch as well as a slide bar to control the brightness of the light. The dimmer did not control the fan before and only controlled the fan’s light. The circuit breaker was triggered during installation and had to be reset. I used one of the bulbs from the fan for the new pendant light. While the new light turns on/off with the switch, it does not dim. The light stays at its brightest regardless of where the slide bar is moved. Did the dimmer switch get damaged? Should I replace it? If not, why does the dimmer not work on my new pendant light when it worked 30 minutes before with the fan light and same bulb?
