I need a floor lamp that can be filled with whatever. Almost all of the lighting fixture stores I have browsed have table top models but not floor lamps that can be filled. Does anyone know where I can purchase one? Preferably for under 5 hundred and preferably one that can light a medium or large bedroom without using any other light sources. Thank you.

My floor lamp has rust on the bottom – should I throw it away or can something be done?

It’s a perfectly good lamp that works, but it leaves a stain ring on my carpet.

Changing a Halogen Bulb in a Floor Lamp?
Filed Under Floor Lamps | 4 Comments
I have a floor lamp and the bulb went out. I remember that back when my dad gave the lamp to me he said that he’d “modified” it. The sticker on the lamp said it calls for a T Bulb of 300 Watts maximum. So I bought one. When I took out the old bulb, however, I noticed that while one end was the same as the new bulb, with the connector, the other end was a skinny piece of glass that looked like it could fit into a notch. My question is, what do I do? That is the bulb the lamp calls for but it won’t go in and it looks different than the one that came out. Is this normal or is this something that my dad “modified”? If so should I just get rid of the floor lamp? I don’t want to have it explode on me when I try to “modify” it!

How can I make a steel floor lamp look less modern and more "country"?
Filed Under Floor Lamps | 8 Comments
We got two floor lamps for free from family for our new place, but I do NOT like the “modern” or “comtemporary” decorating scheme. Is there any way to “country-up” these all steel lamps?

You can find them on the target site if you search for metal floor lamp glass shade
(if my link didn’t work)
I don’t know, use some kinda paint on the steel? The shade is okay, it’s just ALL THAT METAL/STEEL!

How should I recycle a floor lamp?
Filed Under Floor Lamps | 13 Comments
I have a floor lamp that is broken (and its not the bulb) and i want to know a good way to dispose of it. I would rather try to recycle it than throw it away but i don’t know what to do with it. I live in Central NY if that helps. Thanks!

I have a tall florescent floor lamp that doesn’t work. Is is possible to replace the ballast in something so tall? I’m not having any luck finding anything at the local home improvement stores and no one seems to know anything.
Or is it too much of a hassle, or even possible, to dismantle the sections and re-run the wiring? Thanks in advance!
It is a florescent lamp… they burn much cooler and use a lot less energy than the standard halogen lamp.
As far as the ballast goes, I’m assuming that’s what it is… It’s not a rectangular ballast like I’ve seen in stores. It’s a round unit in the top of the lamp bowl, wires and cord strung through the tubular body of the lamp. It’s a torch-style lamp, about 6 feet tall.

Where can I get a, step by step, part by part guide for making a floor lamp?

The floor lamp will be made from Diamond Willow, which is hollow. I would like to put in a 3-way switch, that will allow. a shaded bulb to be turned on, then a second bulb within the willow or both.
