Jim I asked:

In 2003 my parents did a major renovation to their home – new siding, a wrap-around porch, landscaping, etc.

My father passed away that December, and never got to see the completed product.

This year, for Christmas for my mom, I’d like to find someone who could take pictures of the house (I would provide) and create a ceramic Christmas village house (the kind that has the light inside). I could provide measurements and all, but I can’t seem to find anyone who can do this (and I’d be surprised if SOMEONE wasn’t doing this out there in the world).

My mom has several of these houses that she puts up every Christmas, and it would be great to have one that looked just like the house.

Obviously cost is an issue, but I know a custom piece won’t be inexpensive. I really just want to find a company or individual who can do this.

Please, serious responses only.

Thanks for your help!

Monet sunset of neurotic twirled oranges’ pink,
cathedraled blusterings of thunderheads high,
lighting, highlighting twilight grays’ usurpation…
Did I not see, to envy weathered palettes…

Dali sunrise slurring, melting, dripping the sun
liquid over sliding landscapes, framed stark
spires twisted, deadened memories of trees…
Did I not see, to question this palette…

Van Gogh drags both into a starry, starry day
we feel…
Watch with me…it begins.

A software where you can see a landscape and the sky conditions such as rain, snow, thunder and lighting.
In another way- a software where you can see rain falling and wind blowing and all other weather elements.

I used to own a point-and-shoot Pentax that I absolutely loved: I could take closeups, open the aperture to expose an image in very low light, or take landscape shots using the setting that allowed for “far away” focus. All of these options were automated with a turn of a dial, and even my snapshots came out fantastic. The anti-shake feature was automatic too, though it required more skill to take the closeups and the long-exposure shots.

I’m looking for something similar in a digital camera that isn’t an SLR but has some of the benefits. Point and shoot is plenty nice, but my current digital camera has none of those fancy options. Pictures suffer.

I’ve thought a Panasonic Lumix might suit me well. But I’ve wondered about the lack of a viewfinder on many of these cameras. Doesn’t counting on the video screen sap battery power?

Which Lumix would you recommend? Or is there another camera I’m overlooking that might suit my needs and desires? I’ll spend the money for the right item.

What do you do if the sun is in the picture you want, but if you increase the shutter speed, (because of the high amount of light) the foreground appears to dark! If i decrease the shutter speed to make the foreground brighter, the sun is to bright and makes the whole sky (including the clouds, which in allot of cases are very important in a picture) a big white blob!

I have been told by many that my work is very beautiful and that I should go into business for myself. I love to design yards and I feel I am very good at it. I have never had my own business before so I really don’t even know where to start. Do I need a licence for this? When and If I did start do I pay for all the lawn design and then charge them for it afterwards? How much does ones usually charge for something like this? I know it cost me a pretty penny to do my own yard.LOL Plus all the time I had into it. I built my own ponds, bridges, flower pots, Large and small driftwood decor, painted what ever needed to be painted, had several decor water pumps running, Large stumps of wood for some of the water decor pumps to sit on. I halled in lava rocks, river rocks, large bolder rocks for design, many flower plants, wind chimes, tie kie torches, indoor outdoor rope lights that swirled through the ground plants, ground ornaments, ground lights, green viens through the back fencing, ect

My husband and I are getting landscaping done and are trying to figure out what to expect (price wise). We are going to do planters, with tropical plants, sprinkler system, lighting, and stamped concrete. Can someone tell me either how much their landscaping costed them or what we should expect?

My home is a bright-light country blue with white accents. It’s an old farmhouse that was relocated to town many years ago. The previous owners here in town had no flowers, plants or trees, so I’m starting from scratch here.

The house is a tall 2 story and harsh looking. It’s very boxy and symmetrical. I’d like to soften it’s appearance, attempt to downplay it’s height and add some charm and curb-side appeal.

I’ve found that plants placed closely around the house foundation looks tacky, but the foundation itself looks tacky too.

My husband is dead set against vines. He’s afraid they will damage the siding and eves of the house.

I’m not interested in modern looks particularly. They wouldn’t match the style.

I’m thinking heaths and heathers, which are proving hard to locate. I also believe phlox, daisies and soft looking plants would go well. My dilema is these plants are about the same height. What are some taller plants that would match this scheme?
Great responses! Thank you everyone!

I live in northern Ohio and have a small, rectangular-shaped yard. Not too much room on the sides of the house, or in front.

Thanks again for the great ideas. Very much appreciated!
